One of the main problems highlighted by the extensive primary research of the  Greek VegetarianAssociation (HellasVeg) in 2022 regarding the dietary habits of Greeks is that there are not enough satisfactory vegetarian options, mainly dishes, in the restaurants of our country. As a result, flexitarian consumers (flexible vegetarians) find it difficult to avoid consuming meat, even if they wish to. At the same time, purely vegetarian or vegan restaurants remain limited and generally concentrated in the large cities of the country, often leaving vegan and vegetarian consumers with limited choices and a difficulty in dining with their non-vegan friends.

For this purpose, HellasVeg decided to provide geographical information for our country by creating a map-guide of all the restaurants and dining venues that offer vegan and/or vegetarian meals on their menu. These restaurants are categorized on the map into two groups (vegan-friendly and veggie restaurants), with all the necessary information: address, location, and area.

To date, options have been recorded in major cities such as Athens, Thessaloniki, Ioannina, Patras, Heraklion, Larissa, Alexandroupolis, Kavala, Volos, and Kalamata, as well as in regions like Imathia, Pella, and Halkidiki. Gradually, the mapping has expanded to the islands of the country, starting from the Sporades (Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonissos), with new areas continuously being added.

📌 The map is regularly updated, so it’s worth visiting again to discover new vegan-friendly and veggie spots in your city or during your travels.

Stay tuned!
