    One kilo challenge

A next action of HellasVeg is the "one kilo" challenge, lasting from 1 to 3 months. The goal of this action is to attract more and more people, each of whom will be asked to consume less than one kilo of meat per month. According to statistics from the European Consumer Organization (BEUC), the average amount we consume in Greece is 54.6 kilos per year. In other words, 4.60 kilos per month or 150 grams per day!

We remind you that WHO stated in its 2015 announcement that consuming 50 grams of red meat daily leads to an 18% increase in the risk of colorectal cancer.

The one kilo challenge aims to reduce participants' consumption to levels below one kilo per month (i.e., 12kg annually) by offering them alternative ways to utilize nutrients and vegan products with exciting recipes, innovative ideas, and many surprises.

    Why participate?

Nutritionists will be allies in your effort, who will contribute with their advice to make this experience more enjoyable and fun.

After registering, you will start receiving information about wonderful vegan recipes and how plant-based nutrition can help animals, our planet, and your health!

    YesNo

Based on the study by the European Consumer Institute (BEUC) from 2020, the average annual per capita meat consumption of European consumers is 57.6 kilos, and that of Greeks is 54.2. The one kilo challenge we are planning will aim to reduce participants' consumption to levels below one kilo per month (i.e., 12kg annually) by offering them alternative ways to utilize nutrients and vegan products with exciting recipes, innovative ideas, and many surprises.
