Changing Preferences: Analysis of Greek Consumers' Attitudes Towards Plant-Based Diets
A follow-up to the 2022 survey report, “What Consumers Want“
Consumers Demand Healthy and Sustainable Options
The nationwide study conducted by the polling company Kantar A.E. in collaboration with the Association of Greek Vegetarians (HellasVeg) and the European Vegetarian Union (EVU) provides valuable insights into dietary habits regarding plant-based diets and purchasing preferences for plant-based products. Through comparative analysis with European data, trends and challenges in transitioning to a plant-based diet are revealed.
The key findings highlight a significant increase in interest in plant-based diets and the challenges faced by the industry in meeting this demand. Greek consumers desire plant-based products that are tasty, healthy, affordable, and available in the market. However, successfully promoting these products requires better public awareness of their benefits, innovation in the food industry, and support at the level of food policy.
It is encouraging to see the continuously increasing willingness of Greeks to reduce their consumption of animal products, although significant obstacles remain to be overcome.
